Shore of Jackson Lake
Walking the shore of Jackson Lake (Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming) in late summer, I found this view of the mountains.
Cathedral Rock Cloudy Sunset
Just when I thought the sunset was going to be a complete bust, the clouds parted just enough to let the sun shine onto Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona.
Delicate Arch in Arches National Park isn't so delicate. It is over 40 feet (12m) tall. The hike to get to it is over 3 miles (4.8km) over baking slickrock and areas of fine, soft sand (much like walking on a beach).
Despite all the warnings posted on the trail about the need to take lots of water while walking in the desert in late summer heat, many people still did not have a drop of water with them - and several of them needed help or water while on the trail.
Bryce Canyon Afternoon
Just 90 minutes prior to this shot had us taking shelter from hail and near-freezing rain. But this is a lesson in patience as the afternoon sun finally arrived and bathed the park in a beautiful glow.
