River Visual RWY 19

The River Visual approach to runway 19 at Reagan National Airport (DCA). This is the approach used by the planes in the Arsenal of Democracy Flyover. The planes then turned left at the Arlington Memorial Bridge to fly on the south side of the Mall.

The "Arsenal of Democracy" flyover began with a formation of Piper L-4 "Grasshoppers". The formations flew the DCA River Visual Approach to Memorial Bridge, then turned west to follow the south side of the National Mall, then turned south at the Capitol to follow the Anacostia River.

The torpedo plane formation's Avenger in the #3 position suffered a hydraulic failue and diverted to land at Reagan National. He effected a quick repair and was able to takeoff for Culpeper within a couple hours. The "air boss" plane is seen to the far right.
