Part of one of the main rapids/cascades in the Great Falls section of the Potomac River.

"Great Falls Evening" This is the main portion of the upper fall in the Great Falls section of the Potomac River. The river drops ~20ft/6.1m in this section. Shot in late evening right before all the side light is lost as the river's gorge moves into shadow. _

Moon at Great Falls Sunset

I spent the afternoon at Great Falls Park and enjoyed the views during the sunset, then I turned downstream to see the rising moon. The contrast between the blue sky, golden light on the other side of the gorge, and blue shadows over the river were interesting to me. _
