This was a short hike into Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head, North Carolina. The park isn't very large, so all the hikes are relatively short (compared to miles-long hikes in the mountains or out west). Still, it's enough to get you in places of relative solitude.
As I stood on the peak of this dune watching some storm clouds building (and they would coalesce into a fairly large thunderstorm about an hour after this photo was taken), I was struck by the loneliness of the footprints leading to "my" dune.
