While driving through Custer State Park in South Dakota, we came upon this lone bison walking toward us through the grass. The area had just experienced a snowfall and the scene was almost like it was scripted in a Hollywood production.

Where the Buffalo Roam

A view from the Prairie Trail in Custer State Park in South Dakota. This view demonstrates why I enjoy traveling to these parks in the off season. It seemed we had the park to ourselves most of the day. There is a small herd of bison on the right side of the valley to offer a sense of scale.
